Economic Structure Analysis

The data below are based on the data of 23 occupations and 11 sectors from 2001 to 2015 from the Bureau of Labor statistics (https://data.bls.gov/) .

In “I.Q.”, we enable the users to calculate the real-time impacts of shocks (output changes) on each sector’s future employments and industry outputs after shock. Under “Future Employment Projection”, we use baseline model’s projected full-time employments in 2040 as base for the full-time employment projection in 2040 after shock. The 11 sectors’ full-time employments in 2015 are provided as reference in the table. Under “Future Output Projection”, the 11 sector’s industry output in 2015 serves as base for future output after shock.

In “Economic Industry LQ”, we report the number of workers in Sangamon County and in the state of Illinois for each occupation, the share of that occupation in Sangamon, and its location quotient with respect to Illinois and the country. A location quotient (LQ) is a measure of a region’s industrial specialization relative to a larger geographic unit. An LQ> 1 indicates that the occupation is relatively more present in Sangamon than in the benchmark.

In “Economic Projection”, we provide the past and future forecast data (based on an autoregressive model) of the number of workers in each occupation.
